Where Roquenians are Connected

In the musical play "Camelot" that was the place to live if you wanted happiness and joy. By decree of King Arthur, the weather was pleasant at all times, with the seasons timed to the conversion and comfort of the people. Maidens and children walked the streets without fear of assault. Hunger and poverty were unknown, with all the community sharing the wealth of the land. It was the perfect kingdom, at least for a while. For eventually everything went wrong: the Queen fell in love with King Arthur's best friend. Arthur's son tried to take over his throne, and his Round Table was split into factions and his knights battled each other. King Arthur watched helplessly as the "brief, shining moment" of his Camelot came to an end.

Jesus, each day we are reminded that we do not live in Camelot. One glance at the newspapers or the television newscast reminds us of this. Not only are there hunger and poverty but violence, senseless killings and wars. One has only to look into his or her life to witness heartache, sickness, family problems and the death of loved ones. Jesus, we are reminded that there is only one Camelot, and it is not found in this world, this life. There is only one perfect kingdom, the Kingdom of Heaven where there will be no hunger, no poverty, no suffering, no pain, no sickness, and no death. And we will be with you and our loved ones for all eternity. Jesus help us to keep our gaze fixed on this Camelot.
