Where Roquenians are Connected

Last night I watched the correspondents episode entitled urbanisasyong paurong. And as I watched it,I am hoping na sana marami din ang nanunuod nun.Dahil it brings awareness.Practically speaking, nagsink na talaga yung most areas that were affected by typhoons ondoy and pepeng. It could've been avoided since there was a better plan made 32 years ago for the laguna lake not to overflow to its underlying cities in case of continuous rainfalls just like what happened. Unfortunately, that plan wasn't implemented. As we have heard in the news ,the laguna lake is the catch basin for all the places surrounding it.In the original plan, there should've been certain distances allowed from the lake wherein people could build their houses.Sadly, that plan was just ignored and due to overpopulation people keep on building houses to most prohibited areas around the lake with the local officials tolerating them. When it rains, the lake rises from its original level and has to spillover excess water to all available spillway nearby that connects to Manila bay. There is one in Pasig, its a long passage narrowed by the houses that was built on both sides of the lake. Adding up the wastes people threw in the water each day caused a much slower flowing. In the old plan made by experts, there shoudl have another spillway in Parañaque, which is shorter in length in comparison to that of what we already have in Pasig, that could've prevented flooding, but again was not carried out because during that time Parañaque is already making a name in modernization. Now, there is no single authority in metro manila, each municipality has their own ways of making a good name. The more infrastructures built, the more tax each leaders can get. OVERPOPULATION,DEFORESTATIONS,POLITICS.These are the MAJOR CAUSES OF DESTRUCTION.I do believe in my heart that what the country is experiencing right now is a wake up call from God to all Filipinos and to all mankind that when we are so busy doing so much for our own personal interests we go astray to the fundamental plans God has already made for us.It is never too late for our leaders and to those aspiring ones to constitute and act on a plan that will protect both the environment and its people. And people it is never too late to make all this possible. In our own simple ways we could do more.
