It was Trinity Sunday, and a Religious Education teacher had invited the pastor to her first grade class. She asked the class: "Class, can anyone tell me what feast we are celebrating today?" Many hands went up, and one kid said "Trinity Sunday." The teacher said "that's right." Then she asked: "Can anyone tell me what the Trinity is?" A little girl said: "There is one God in three Divine Persons." Now the pastor was quite impressed and said: "Great answer. Now tell us what that means?" The little girl folded her arms and said: "I don't have a clue."
Do you want to know something, Jesus? I, too, don't have a clue what the Trinity means, because, when you come right down to it, the Trinity is a mystery. The Trinity is, indeed a mystery. We really don't quite understand it. But just because we can't understand it, it doesn't mean that it has to be meaningless. Today, Jesus, I want to thank each Person of the Trinity for what they mean to me. So, thank you, God the Father, for giving me life. Thank you, Jesus, God the Son, for suffering and dying on the cross for me. And, thank you, God the Holy Spirit, for giving me guidance and comfort.
